*Description: This is a great pair of early Swarovski clip on earrings with blue crystals from the 1970s. The earrings are gold plated and stamped Edelweiss on the clips and S. A. L. on the actually earring backs. Edelweiss was the early Swarovski hallmark. Each earring has two blue crystals which are faceted and cut into rounded corner squares. They are full of sparkle and set in the gold plated earrings. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
Daniel Swarovski invented a machine to industrially cut crystal stones making “a diamond for everyone” in 1891. Swarovski, his brother-in-law Franz Weis and Armand Kosmann founded the Swarovski company in 1895 to manufacture stones. Began making costume jewelry in 1977 using the Edelweiss logo and then changed to the swan logo in 1988. Business is still owned and operated by Swarovski family members in Wattens, Austria.
