*Description: This is a beautiful Eisenberg Ice clear rhinestone Angel brooch with a clear rivoli rhinestone as the angel's head. The angel is outlined with clear rhinestones on a gold tone backing. The brooch is stamped Eisenberg Ice on the back on a raised cartouche. With the outline design, the clothing color will show within the brooch. The backing is gold plated. It has a bit of wear on the plating on the front where the angel is a little pliable. Please review photos for details. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
In Costume Jewelry 101, Julia C Carroll interviewed Karl Eisenberg, who was Jonas Eisenberg’s grandson. Jonas Eisenberg immigrated to Chicago from Austria in 1885. He gave a general list of dates and their hallmarks for Eisenberg jewelry. She explained that Eisenberg jewelry is difficult to precisely date by marks as the company did not necessarily retire one mark in favor of another.
A few of the dates mentioned are below:
1942-1945 Jewelry marked E in script or black print
1941-1945 Eisenberg Sterling due to war effort or Eisenberg Originals
1945-1958 Eisenberg or Eisenberg Ice
1958-1970s Paper Tag or Eisenberg Ice
Some of the slogans used for advertisements for Eisenberg over the years included: The glittering generation moves up to Eisenberg Ice, Midas Touch, and Jewelry of the Future.
*Approximate Measurements: Length - 2 1/4 Inches, Width - 1 3/8 Inches
*Condition: Good vintage condition. There are a couple of lines in the plating due to wear. Will see signs of wear under magnification. See photos for details.
*Hallmark: Eisenberg Ice
*Item # 5263
