*Description: This is a La Mode Guilloche heart locket expansion sweetheart bracelet from the 1920s. The heart locket opens from the top of the heart and securely snaps in place. The gold is over sterling due to the coloring of unpolished sterling and non-magnetic construction. The sterling polishes up beautifully with a polishing cloth as I tested a few links. The gold filled is clearly marked. This is a unique antique locket bracelet. This bracelet is in its natural state and has not been polished except for those few links. The inside of the locket has been stamped La Mode and 12K GF. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
La Mode was the trademark used by Ripley & Gowan of Attleboro, MA. The company’s history begins in the 1880s, and until the 1930s it often used the mark R & G. U.S. trademark files indicate that Ripley and Gowan filed for use of La Mode as a trademark in 1924. The trademark is no longer active and was assigned to Barrows Industries of Providence, RI, in the late 1950s.
