Mid Century MONET Collar Necklace, Tassel Down Back & Two Clasps, Gold Plated, 1950s Vintage Jewelry

*Description: This is a beautiful MONET collar necklace from the 1950s. The gold plated necklace has the elegant drop tassel down the back with the wide collar in the front. In addition, it can be worn as a tassel in the front also but it was originally designed to accent the back of an open back outfit. This exact necklace is not in the Monet book but very similar designs are listed with the back double clasp tassel slider. On page 139 - 140 of Monet The Master Jewelers by Alice Vega, she explains that the bib style collar necklace was designed in the early 1950s and into the early 1960s with the adjustable slider and two clasps hallmarked "Monet" on the back of each with no copyright symbol. She added that Monet produced many of these collar style necklaces throughout the 1950s and all were beautifully made. At the time of this publication, they were over 50 years old; now 70 years old and in beautiful condition. I tested the gold surface metal at 10K and it is not magnetic. Each side of the necklace may be opened depending on your preference. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!

*Condition: Great vintage condition. Will see signs of wear under magnification. Some rubbed off plating on edges of oval where MONET is stamped. See photos for details. The circle slider use to slide to adjust the length but I did not want to force the slider so I'm not sure if it will move.
