Michael and Jay Chernow founded Monocraft in 1929. As part of the business, the brothers developed an excellent plating process to branch into making jewelry, which they signed “MONET”. Monet jewelry reflects classic designs that can be worn daily. Information shared by Julia C. Carroll in Costume Jewelry 101. One of the best overviews of Monet jewelry was written by Alice Vega in her book entitled “Monet The Master Jewelers” where she gives a history of Monet jewelry. She explained that Monet was launched in 1937. Monocraft was the parent company which made Monet jewelry. Monet’s motto was “To create our own original designs in the finest quality jewelry science knows how to make.” Their goal was to produce that jewelry with a price that would be within the budget of most women.
