*Description: This is a great mid-century Arthur Pepper Red Aurora Borealis rhinestone choker necklace from the last half of the 1950s to the 1960s. The necklace has red ab rhinestones in two sizes on a gold tone textured background. The abundance of aurora borealis red rhinestones give the necklace a lot of shimmer and shine. The necklace is stamped ART with the copyright symbol as was the Arthur Pepper hallmark. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!

The company was named MODEART and appeared to have ART designs from the 1950s to 1970s. Arthur Pepper was the owner of MODE ART which was a New York company. The jewelry was signed ART in capital letters and after 1955 also had the copyright symbol. According to Julia C Carroll of Costume Jewelry 101, ART sets had interesting stones and color combinations which were similar to Florenza jewelry. Bracelets and necklaces had pastel rhinestones similar to Hollycraft jewelry. Many of the pins and earrings were decorated with brightly colored enamel. Some of the best Art designs include Art figural pins, glitzy Art sets, and Art Christmas Jewelry.
