*Description: This is a gorgeous Regency red and pink brooch with aurora borealis rhinestones from the later 1950s. This brooch is built in two separate pieces; interlocking rings which collectors often call hook and eye construction, attach the top to the bottom and fits the two sections together. The two larger red stones are open back, allowing the light to shine through. Another bonus feature is the pink large rhinestone which has its point up and is prong set with fancy dog-tooth prongs. The brooch is made in two sections and the top sections moves slightly if pushed. There are two hook and eyes which hold the top to the bottom. The rhinestones are red, pink, and aurora borealis. It is a beautiful brooch.

REGENCY is the hallmark for Regina Novelty Company, New York, New York. Regency was in operation from the 1940s to 1970. According to Julia C Carroll in Costume Jewelry 101, “Regency jewelry is beautifully designed and is manufactured with excellent materials. Regency designs have been mistaken for Schreiner or Juliana jewelry. Many of the designs resemble higher end Weiss designs.

In the late 1940s, Oscar Polowitz sub-conracted with Raymond Albertieri to design and manufacture a new line of high-quality rhinestone jewelry for his company, Regina Novelty Company. This new line of jewelry was called “Regency Jewels.” All of the stones used in Regency Jewels came from Austria. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
