*Description: This is a beautiful Sorrento Sterling necklace and screw back earrings set with a green gemstone cabochon on the pendant and earrings. All pieces are marked Sorento Sterling. I tested the cabochons on the Presidium gem tester and they fell into the Nephrite area. This set is from the 1950s and looks wonderful. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
UNCAS MANUFACTURING CO. began in 1911. The Sorrento hallmark was used in 1951. The company was founded in 1911 by Vincent Sorrentino (1892-1976) in Providence, RI under his own name. It became UNCAS Manufacturing Co. before 1922. Curtrman Company (1936) became a part of Uncas prior to 1950. Uncas purchased Vargas MFG. and its building sometime after 1996. The original Sorrentino family is still involved in the Uncas Co. as of 2008.
