*Description: This is a beautiful mid-century Van Dell 12K gold filled necklace and matching screw back earrings from the late 1940s to 1950s. The cabochons are faux opals which measure as glass. It is a beautiful open back set. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!

The Van Dell Corporation was founded in Providence, Rhode Island in 1939. It was in operation until 1998 when a London company that also owns Krementz jewelry purchased the company. The mark for Van Dell is Van Dell 1/20 12K G.F. and Van Dell Sterling. The Van Dell jewelry has a signature look with good quality floral designs. Often pretty rhinestones are the accent in the designs. Van Dell jewelry was usually sold in sets. Van Dell jewelry was expensive when it was originally sold. As an example a set in 1960 cost $65. The most collectible pieces are cameo and Wedgwood pieces. Information shared in Costume Jewelry 101 by Julia C. Carroll.
