*Description: This is a beautiful pair of Hattie Carnegie purple clip on earrings with silver foil inside the glass in a brass bass with dog-toothed prong setting from the 1950s. The glass on each earring is domed so you can see the silver foil inside the glass. Each earring cabochon is an original and looks very unique. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
Born in 1886, Hattie Carnegie began her jewelry line in 1939 and continued through 1970. In 1939, she began marketing jewelry to coordinate with her fashions. Many talented artists designed Carnegie jewelry. Some of the best loved Carnegie pieces are from her theme collections. Her most common marks are “Hattie Carnegie” in script, “Carnegie”, and “HC” in a diamond oval frame, which is rare. Carnegie passed away in 1956 but her jewelry continued to be manufactured until 1970. This information was shared in Julia C Carroll’s book Costume Jewelry 101.
