*Description: This is a beautiful Ciner Brutalist brooch with strong texture and two tones of green enamel from the 1960s. Brutalist jewelry was popular in the 1960s, during the short Brutalist period. Brutalist jewelry emphasizes structural elements, materials, and textural patterns over a decorative design. This ribbon design has strong texture on the front and the back. It is stamped CINER with the copyright symbol on the back within the textured design. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
Ciner was founded by Emanuel Ciner in 1892 and originally made fine jewelry. Ciner began making costume jewelry in 1931. Emanuel Ciner switched from producing fine jewelry to costume jewelry by giving Ciner costume jewelry designs that look like fine jewelry. It has been recorded that only Ciner jewelry made after World War II is marked. Ciner’s costume jewelry is made with the finest materials. The faux pearls in vintage pieces are from Japan and have a special glaze that simulates the look of real pearls.
Several of the marks on jewelry by Ciner are:
“Ciner” with or without copyright
MC inside a rectangle
Ciner Sterling
