This is a beautiful pair of vintage Navajo sterling silver clip-on earrings featuring the Kokopelli design, handcrafted by artisans Della & Francis James (JF) in the 1960s.

Each earring showcases a finely detailed cut-out of Kokopelli, the Native American flute player symbolizing fertility, joy, and the spirit of music and celebration. Surrounding the figure are etched sun or star motifs beneath a crescent moon — classic elements of Navajo silversmithing from this period.

The earrings are signed “JF” with the characteristic short cross-bar on the “J,” identifying the work of Della and Francis James, as verified on the Indian Native American Jewelry Hallmarks reference site:
http://www.art-amerindien.com/hallmarks/j-indian-native-american-jewelry-marks.htm

This is an outstanding example of traditional Navajo craftsmanship — solid sterling, hand-tooled, and rich with cultural symbolism.
