*Description: This is a beautiful WEISS faux baroque pearl brooch with Topaz Rhinestones and orange rhinestones on an antique gold plated backing from the 1950s. The crystal rhinestones are prong set and are beautiful. All of the colors blend together beautifully.
Weiss was founded in 1942 and ceased operations in 1971. Albert Weiss gained experience by working at Coro and then founded in 1942. Most of the Weiss jewelry is made of high quality Austrian rhinestones and timeless designs.
According to Julia C Carroll in Costume Jewelry 303, some Weiss pieces were designed and manufactured by DeLizza and Elster, Inc, to be sold under the Weiss trademark. Weiss used a wide variety of rhinestones, art glass in some designs and usually prong set stones. They usually used heavy silver or gold tone plating. Some Japanned metal designs and a few colorful enamel designs. Signature was stamped into the metal, part of the mold, or on a raised cartouche.
This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!
*Approximate Measurements: Length - 2 1/4 Inches, Width - 1 3/4 Inches, Weight - .8 Ounce
*Condition: Very good vintage condition. You will see wear or patina around or under the faux baroque pearls and on the gold plating. Will see signs of wear under magnification. See photos for details.
