*Description: This is a beautiful West Germany pair of clip on earrings with gray-green faceted glass centers and clear rhinestones and faux pearls from the 1950s. The stones are set into a gold tone filigree base. The earrings are clips and have W. Germany stamped on the back of each. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!

After WWII, Germany was divided into four sectors: American, British, French, and Soviet. In 1946, there was a guarded border between West Germany and East Germany. Then in 1952, the border between the two was closed until it was reopened again in 1989. Due to the history, it is possible to date some of the jewelry made in Germany. Jewelry made before 1949 is marked GERMANY, but jewelry made after that time up until 1990, is marked WEST GERMANY. Jewelry made after 1990 is again marked GERMANY.

The most collectible marked W. Germany pieces are jewelry sets: pins and earrings, or necklaces and earrings made of elaborate filigree metal and decorated with tiny colorful beads and pearls.
