Western Germany Purple Floral Pendant Necklace, Filigree Rhinestones Faux Pearls, 1950s Vintage Jewelry

*Description: This is a beautiful Western Germany pendant necklace from the 1950s with a ceramic oval floral design of a purple pink flower with green leaves and orange buds. The lovely floral design is surrounded by four aurora borealis rhinestones on a filigree frame. The pendant is attached to a three dimensional filigree floral chain with faux pearl accents which is attached to a heart bail. The chain has a ring near the clasp that is marked Western Germany. This would be a great addition to your vintage jewelry collection or make a great vintage gift!

After WWII, Germany was divided into four sectors: American, British, French, and Soviet. In 1946, there was a guarded border between West Germany and East Germany. Then in 1952, the border between the two was closed until it was reopened again in 1989. Due to the history, it is possible to date some of the jewelry made in Germany. Jewelry made before 1949 is marked GERMANY, but jewelry made after that time up until 1990, is marked WEST GERMANY. Jewelry made after 1990 is again marked GERMANY.

The most collectible marked W. Germany pieces are jewelry sets: pins and earrings, or necklaces and earrings made of elaborate filigree metal and decorated with tiny colorful beads and pearls.
