This is a striking Whiting & Davis snake mesh necklace or extra-large coiled bracelet from the 1970s Egyptian Revival era.

The rhodium-plated design features a detailed serpent head and tail with engraved scales, coiled in gleaming silver mesh that can be shaped to fit comfortably around the neck or upper arm. This versatile and dramatic piece was part of Whiting & Davis’s famous “Mesh Collection” (1976–1977) and is a book piece featured in Julia Carroll’s Costume Jewelry 202, page 472.

Whiting & Davis, renowned for their mesh handbags and jewelry since the early 20th century, produced high-quality metal designs with intricate latticework, overlapping scales, and heavy rhodium plating. Their serpent designs remain among the most collectible of their creations — bold, fluid, and timeless.

🖤 A museum-quality example of 1970s glamour and Egyptian-inspired design.
